Learn to Paddle

Learn how to paddle from an experienced paddling community. We will host various beginner trips and informal events through the year designed for the novice paddler to learn and improve their paddling skills, such as learning various paddle strokes, rolling a kayak, and maneuvering through moving water. Our approach is to mentor new paddlers and provide opportunities to practice and improve. At this time, we do not offer formal ACA instruction.

Roll sessions are scheduled throughout the year as a place to gather, socialize, and practice rolling or any skill that you would like. These sessions are informal and a great way to introduce yourself and get tips. During the winter, these are held in an indoor pool for a small fee. During the summer, we meet out at Alum Creek State Park.

If you are interested in learning to paddle, and not quite sure where to begin, please send us a message using the form below so that we can discuss with you what your previous experiences and future goals are.
